THE June meeting was held in the cricket pavilion when Linda precided.
Seven members did the village litter pick on after a busy bank holiday.
The talk by Sadie the Bra Lady at Fryup had been a very entertaining evening. Four members attended the group rally at Fryup to learn about Concorde. Five members will go to The Ellerby for the group lunch.
Three members will go to the Coliseum to
see The Land Girls. There is an invitation from Eskmoor WI to an open evening in Danby Village Hall tomorrow to hear Jane Wheldon from Get Ahead Hats.
The bulb orders need to be in this month.
The licence for the barbecue on Saturday 18 July is organised and Jenny Hunt brought the tickets for sale.
The summer outing on Tuesday 4 August is to Ryedale Folk Museum, leaving the car park at 9.30am for coffee at Lastingham, and on return for a meal at the Board Inn.
Jenny Hunt spoke about Abbeyfields, and the help which was needed in various ways. Next month Ursula will give us more information at the business meeting.
The speaker for next month will be Brid Moss and the competition is for a photo of a bridge. Hostesses will be Mary Leaver and Jenny Redway.
Linda then welcomed Margaret Messer who gave a talk on the Bethel Nursery School in Banjul in The Gambia. She brought beautiful fabrics and craft items which were from the Gambia to purchase, to help towards the present building project for the school. Linda thanked her for this insight into the needs of the young children of the Gambia.
The competition for a small ornament was won by Jenny Hunt and the raffle was won by Ann Broadley. Supper hostesses were Enid Lonsdale and Brenda Jones.
