EVENTS

GOATHLAND PCC welcomes new residents with welcome packs. Sometimes ne
wcomers arrive without being noticed. Ken Croft would be grateful to be told of any new arrivals, ring 896403.
WOULD you like to receive information relating to the work of the parish council via e-mail? As part of its attempt to develop the communications between the parish council and residents, it has been agreed that anyone wishing to have copies of notices, agendas and minutes should contact the clerk to the parish council, Mrs J Ellis, at goathlandpc@hotmail.co.uk with their e-mail address.
THIS year St Mary's PCC will hold a harvest supper in the village hall on 3 October immediately following the harvest service. A buffet supper and wine will be served and offers of help on the night or donations of food would be greatly appreciated. Admission to include food is free and wine will be served at £1 per glass. For details contact Sarah McElhinney on 896144.
ST Mary's Church celebrates Heritage Weekend on Sunday 14 September. The church will be open from 10am-4.30pm to welcome visitors to look around, go up the tower, try the bells and hear something about its history. Light refreshments will be available.
KEEP fit is taking a break this month and will restart on Tuesday 9 September.
LUNCHEON Club is on Thursday 25 September at the Inn on the Moor, 12.30pm for 1pm. This will be a buffet. Names to Jean 896363 or June 896470 by Monday 22 September.
CRAFT fair on Monday 1 September, Tuesday 2 September and Wednesday 3 September, 10am-4pm in the village hall, all welcome.
THE YCA meets for a garden party at Long Meadow on Thursday 4 September at 2pm.

CLUBS
THE Walking Group meets on Thursdays at 10am at the shops.
GOATHLAND Scrabble Club was founded in the early 1990s and has flourished ever since. The club meets on Monday evenings at 7pm in the village hall. New recruits are always welcome. Each session costs £1 towards the cost of the hall and includes tea and biscuits. What is left over goes towards an annual lunch each spring.
THE Art Group meets on Mondays at 2pm in the parish hall.
KEEP fit on Tuesdays at 7pm in the parish hall.
BADMINTON and table tennis in the parish hall on Thursdays, 6.30-8.30pm.
THE Good Neighbours Community Transport Scheme operates in the Whitby district with a team of over 40 volunteer drivers who provide transport for those over 60 or registered disabled. More volunteer drivers are needed. If anyone feels they could help will they place contact the clerk to the parish council on 896411.
GOATHLAND First Responders – more volunteers are urgently needed. For details contact Sarah on 896144.
THE Home Group meets on Wednesdays at 7pm at Whinstone.
