EVENTS

BERYL and Ken Croft are hoping to organise open gardens at a covenien
t weekend in June. All proceeds for church funds. Anyone interested is asked to contact them on 896403.
THE Parochial Church Council meets at 7pm in the village hall on Wednesday 10 March.
THE village lunch is on Thursday 25 March at the Inn on the Moor, 12.30pm for 1pm, all welcome. Names to Jean Collins on 896363 or June Rolph on 896470 by Tuesday 23 March.
THE Goathland volunteer firefighters presents an evening of musical entertainment on Saturday 20 March at 7.30pm in the village hall. There will be a disco, bar, pie and peas supper and raffle. Entry by ticket, £5 including supper. Tickets from Cooky, Chris or Goathland Post Office. Proceeds to the Great North Air Ambulance and the firefighters' charity.
BERYL and Ken Croft are organising open gardens on 12 and 13 June. They would be grateful for any volunteers who wish to join in with this project, ring 896403.
CRAFT fair in the village hall from Saturday 3 April to Monday 5 April, 10am-4.30pm, all welcome.

GOATHLAND PCC welcomes new residents with welcome packs. Sometimes newcomers arrive without being noticed. Ken Croft would be grateful to be told of any new arrivals, ring 896403.
WOULD you like to receive information relating to the work of the parish council via e-mail? As part of its attempt to develop the communications between the parish council and residents, it has been agreed that anyone wishing to have copies of notices, agendas and minutes should contact the clerk to the parish council, Mrs J Ellis, at goathlandpc@hotmail.co.uk with their e-mail address.
TOOLS With a Mission is a Christian charity which gives help to anyone who needs it. They collect tools and equipment and send them to countries where they are most needed. A collection point is at Frank Doyles' at The Bazaar in Skinner Street, Whitby. Jackie Fearnley has offered to be the collection point for anyone in the village and will pass the equipment on to him.

CLUBS
GOATHLAND Fishing Club now has vacancies for new members. Membership is restricted to residents of the parish. Anyone interested should contact John Turford on 896300 or Roger Curtis on 896286.
IF anyone is interested in joining a reading group (contemporary fiction) can they contact Rebeka on 896405 for details.
GOATHLAND Cricket Club has been part of the community for 135 years and most of the players are from the village. Now the club is in need of help and support. Details from Andy Fiddler on 896207.
THE Walking Group meets on Thursdays at 10am at the shops.
GOATHLAND Scrabble Club was founded in the early 1990s and has flourished ever since. The club meets on Monday evenings at 7pm in the village hall. New recruits are always welcome. Each session costs £1 towards the cost of the hall and includes tea and biscuits. What is left over goes towards an annual lunch each spring.
THE Art Group meets on Tuesdays at 2pm in the parish hall.
KEEP fit on Tuesdays at 7pm in the parish hall.
BADMINTON and table tennis in the parish hall on Thursdays, 6.30-8.30pm.
THE Good Neighbours Community Transport Scheme operates in the Whitby district with a team of over 40 volunteer drivers who provide transport for those over 60 or registered disabled. More volunteer drivers are needed. If anyone feels they could help will they place contact the clerk to the parish council on 896411.
THE Home Group meets on Wednesdays at 7pm at Whinstone.
