EVENTS

SEQUENCE dance and fund-raising event in the village hall on Friday 3 September, 7.30-10.30pm, with David Clegg on keyboard, £2.50 per person to include refreshments. Raffle, tombola and other fund-raising events during the evening with all profits to Cancer Research UK. For details call Stella on 07941 449205.
THE annual farmhouse suppers in aid of St Hilda's Church funds will be held in the village hall on Friday 17 September. There will be two sittings, 6.30pm and 8pm. Contact Joan Flintoft on 895216 or Peter Godbold on 895514 to reserve a place.
THE annual Heritage Weekend will be held in St Hilda's Church on Saturday 11 September together with the Mortuary Chapel in Glaisdale Lane. Dr Gwyther will have one of his Meccano bridges on display in St Hilda's and there will be refreshments. Church records of births, deaths and weddings will be on display dating from the 17th century. This year the church is only open for the one day as the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, will be at Grosmont Church conducting a Confirmation Service to which all will be attending.
TEA dance in the village hall on Wednesday 22 September for the World's Biggest Coffee Morning, 1.30-3.30pm. Admission £2 with tea and light refreshments available and raffle. Donations or raffle prizes appreciated, all welcome.
THE next meeting of Whitby Rural Community and Police Group takes place on Monday 6 September at 7.30pm. This is an opportunity for local people to express their views to the local police commander on policing in the area.
PARTNER whist drive in the village hall on Tuesday 7 September at 7.30pm, all welcome.
DALESFOLK meets on Friday 3 September in the Robinson Institute at 2pm for a free and easy. The competition is for a holiday spoon. New members always welcome.
ADVANCE notice is given of the Friends of Whitby Lifeboat coffee morning to be held at Egton Village Hall on Saturday 23 October, 10am-12.30pm, details later.

EGTON Parish Hall is available to hire. For bookings contact Mrs J Harrison at Watergate Farm on 895281. Regular events in Egton Parish Hall: Monday, 7-9pm sequence and old time dancing; Tuesday, 6-7pm Pilates, 7.30pm short mat bowling, first Tuesday in each month, 7.30pm whist drive; Wednesday, social sequence dancing 2-4pm (except first Wednesday in month), 7pm beginners' line dancing, 8pm line dancing; first Wednesday in each month, 2pm Ladies' Fellowship; Friday, the first in each month, dancing to dance group music, 7pm, £2.50.

CLUBS
