Regarding the report of the Whitby Gazette cup final, whatever anyone's opinion is of the actions of the umpire concerning drinks intervals, two points should be taken into consideration.
Firstly, law 16 states quite clearly that any drinks intervals should be agreed by the two captains before the commencement of the match.

Secondly, the shorter form of the game, ie evening matches of 20 overs per side, drinks intervals are not normal and as far as I am aware very rarely taken.
