GOATHLAND Primary School children enjoyed a great day out at Castle Howard recently.
At their visit to Castle Howard Arboretum near York the children enjoyed the opportunity to enhance their learning in an outdoor classroom.
"The day was led by Dr Katherine Forsey and class teacher Mrs Cathy Bennion.
"The children were also accompanied by their teaching assistant Mrs June Jenkinson.
"All the key stage one class and staff a delightful day was had by all," said Mrs Bennion. "We made some hand collages which were subsequently made into a hedgehog for display.
"Kai Fordham-Brown learned how to find the age of trees by looking at the suspended trunks of the trees." she added.
The Castle Howard Arboretum Trust is an independent charitable trust formed in June 1997 by joint agreement between Castle Howard and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and represents one of the most exciting new developments in horticulture and botany for the new millennium.
