SCHOOLCHILDREN have been putting their organisational skills to use as part of a community effort to produce an annual fund-raiser.
Youngsters at Castleton Primary School combined their efforts with those of parents and teachers to produce a highly successful summer fair in order to raise money for the school.

Castleton’s 34 pupils helped raise more than £450 from the fair earlier this month, with proceeds generated from stalls such as a penalty shoot-out and pin the ear on the pig.

Parents and members of the local community ran stalls selling homemade ice cream and candle making and the addition of a chocolate fountain proved to be a huge hit.

Headteacher Jane Douglass said: “As usual, the community effort for the event was outstanding.

“So many people commented on the lovely atmosphere which was a great credit and everyone enjoyed contributing to the activities.”

The cash raised is to be used to pay for school activities throughout the year.
