A WHITBY woman has reached a landmark birthday.
Sylvia Blakelock celebrated her 100th birthday on Wednesday with family and friends.

Mrs Blakelock enjoyed a sing -a -long, knees up and party at Larpool Care Home where she has lived for the last five years.

She was born in London where she did shop work including working in a jewellers and florist.

She moved to the north east to Hartlepool, about 38 years ago and met Charles Edward Blakelock on a cruise.

The couple married and moved to a bungalow at Goathland to retire. Mr Blakelock died two years ago.

Nieces Linda and Jane travelled from Middlesbrough for her party along with her old neighbours from Goathland who travelled from their new home in Leeds to join the celebration.

She cut a special Botham’s birthday cake and Mayor Terry Jennison presented her with a bouquet of flowers.

She has no children.
