CHILDREN at Egton Church of England Primary School are delighted to have their own Dr Who TARDIS – although they may not quite manage to get to outer space in it.
Working with Rosedale artist Mary Warren, they designed the TARDIS themselves.

Headteacher Liz Orland said: "It stands against the wall but it can be opened out so the children get the sense of being inside it.

"It has microphones and lots of things to pull and push.

"It came before Christmas so we told the children it was an early present from Father Christmas.

"The whole school is delighted with it and it means they can all play and work together with it.

"It's caused a lot of excitement."

The children also worked with the artist to make interactive target boards in their playground.

The school has just 32 pupils aged from four to 11.
