AROUND 150 youngsters from the Whitby area demonstrated their kwik cricket skills in an inter-schools tournament.
Fifteen teams representing the Whitby and Esk Valley primary schools were split into three groups of five in the event held at the new Mulgrave sportsfield in Lythe.
Group winners of the eight-a-side competition, who each won an Adidas hat and t-shirt as well as a certificate for all, were Goathland, Sleights, Danby, Glaisdale and Lealholm.
All games were played as eight overs with all players bowling an over apiece.
The event was the culmination of coaching in schools from Whitby Cricket Club's overseas cricketer, Australian Brendan Godfrey and Yorkshire CC inter-schools coach Leigh Coates, who also plays for local side Mulgrave.
Mr Coates said this tournament was just the start of things to come and aims to run it again next year.
He thanked all sports leaders who helped on the day.
